Lithuania has long traditions of curing with medicinal plants. Here we have over 1400 herbs growing, of which 800 are used in ethnomedicine. However natural habitats are at the edge of extinction, and plant farming is becoming more and more important. So in order to be sure that we will not lack high-quality raw materials for medicinal teas and plant preparations, we established a subsidiary company under the name of Herbitum Balticum with the key area of activities of growing medicinal plants.
At present Herbitum Balticum supplies 8 essential kinds of medicinal herbs: medicinal camomile, medicinal thyme, peppermint, medicinal lemon balm, medicinal calendula, medicinal valerian and motherwort. The company plans to expand its range of high-quality medicinal herbs.

Herbs can grow on different soils and are not very fastidious. The company processes 380 hectares which bring good harvest although the soil is not very productive here. Herbitum Balticum implements advanced soil care and plant growing technologies and focuses on:
• selection of plant species and quality of seeds;
• scientists’ recommendations to apply them in practice;
• soil preparation and harvesting at the right moment;
• plant fertilisation and fighting with pests;
• drying plants and pre-processing them for the production of preparations.

The herbs supplied by Herbitum Balticum UAB comply with the strict EU quality requirements. These are naturally grown, ecologically pure plants good for strengthening health.
